It appears the new OS from MS is going to offer something a bit more human to the glass and steel domain of computing: touch. From what I gather from reading a recent InsiderTech article on the subject, there will be at least 3 applications for it.
This reminds me of the futuristic movie Minority Report, in which the police used sophisticated gestures and holographic images to manipulate data.
I've also been seeing scattered science reports that they are starting to be able to crack how to control computers with...thoughts, including the very rudimentary ability to begin to read thoughts! Sounds like 1984 and other Orwellian stuff, doesn't it?
Not that I think it's really as basic as they make it sound. I'm sure they have some fully functional thought readers buried deep under Groom Lake! But I digress.
How would it be to directly manipulate data using touch? I realize the iPhone and other touch interfaces are already out there, so what are your thoughts for using this with a desktop as opposed to a little portable device?
