Call me crazy, or paranoid, or both, but I have to say I'm really starting to get creeped out about Facebook. On the surface, the 'book is cool; you find long lost friends, yada yada yada...but have you started noticing Facebook icons popping up...EVERYWHERE?
I mean, from online articles to popups in your yahoo mail to popups in weird places online, to even PRINTED ADS the darn little 'book icon appears...it's creepy folks!
I'm all for communication and connecting wtih people, and while I like the functionality, when is someone gonna stand up and say, "Er, hey, stop that. Or, at least quit trying to become the most recognizeable icon in the history of planet earth, because, well, the rest of us still like choice."
Now that was assertive, right?
But seriously, it's weird how uber-present this darn thing is. I don't even LIKE the interface; it's so spartan and, well, confusing to me. Call me FB challenged, but I hate having to click through 53 menus just to see my own list of friends. OK OK, please don't bother commenting how "easy" it is and "just 1 click away" because I won't believe you; it's hard for me to find things on it.
I'm just wondering if I'm the only one that feels this underlying bizarre creepiness with how FB is everywhere, and isn't there something, well, WRONG with that? Or am I just not with it?
Anti-trust and all?
Well, how Orwellian is it?
Thoughts?
PS, this has nothing to do with the blog, but I MUST mention...if you write out today's date using the European convention of putting the day first, today is:
20-10-2010
Cool, hunh?
