I ran across a couple of interesting articles recently detailing just exactly how Google is doing what we suspected all along: eating our brains.
How Google is Eating Your Brain (My Title!)
A second article on the same subject
The gist of the articles is that we have become lazy in how we remember things. If we think we can Google the info, then we don't bother to remember it.
This goes right along with my general theory that human beings are lazy. I don't mean that in a bad way. In my meaning, we tend to try to find ways of doing things with minimal effort, most efficiently - "lazy!" This is also the progenitor of many a great idea and gadget, so it's not necessarily a bad thing!
In any case, the articles confirm what we knew all along: computers are changing how we think. And if you read my blog post The Dawn Of Super Intelligence: Is it Smart? you'll find out how computers are going to change our actual biology as well.
Fun times ahead! (Gulp!)
