First off, suggesting that an advanced employee take a beginning Windows or Mac class may sound counterintuitive...
After all, that's why they are advanced, right? They already know this stuff!
But do they?
Like most of us, even advanced employees get locked into using their computers in a particular way.
And like most of us, even your super smarties have gaps in their knowledge banks.
Why is that?
Most people never take the time to learn "beginning" windows or mac computers - it would be an embarassment to even ask their employers to send them to a class like that! This is even more true of your smarties, who hold dearly to their titles as protective mothers over their young.
What this means is they have figured out computers on their own. This means there are often small and large gaps in their knowledge banks that they don't even know they have!
Over the course of teaching many a computer and technology class, it's a common thing for my little geniuses to exclaim, "hey, I didn't even know you could DO that in Windows!"
If you can gently insert a kind word in between their egos and their ears, offer to send your little geniuses to a beginning, or intermediate Windows, Mac, Word, or even Excel course. They'll be glad you did.
